[MOVIE REVIEW] MADEA FAMILY FUNERAL
Tyler Perry has yet done it again in the last and farewell film featuring Madea “Madea Family Funeral” Everyone loves the character that Perry has made since his debut movie “Dairy of a Mad Black Woman” Madea had no filter and will definitely tell it like it is no matter what. She is like the mother you never had…except for the violence and foul mouth, but who doesn’t love a dose of laughter for your soul?! “Madea Family Funeral” is definitely filled with jokes and laughter for days. Perry has added his other characters from “Madea Boo” movie such as Hattie and Aunt Bam. Of course everyone knows Joe, Madea’s brother who she constantly jokes on. The plot of the story isn’t really all that difficult as it lies around family secrets. Doesn’t that sound familiar? Well in another one of Perry’s movies “Why Did I Get Married,” it revolved around drama and secrets as well and the family finds a way to fix everything. In this particular movie, the movie was suppose to be about the anniversary of the parents, but when Perry, Uncle Joe, Hattie and Aunt Bam discovers a dark secret and everything goes south in a freak accident. Even though Perry reportedly stated that this is the last movie with Madea in it, I believe she will probably come back. Perry has captured every problem and solution with this movie with great actors and actresses to take on their roles. Although this wasn’t Perry’s best movie compared to other ones he has directed and wrote, what kept this one in the top three for box office ratings were the jokes! The plot needed a little bit more work since it’s not really a good one and it has been used before in some of his other films. Perry could definitely do a much better job with the plot. What made the movie special were the characters as well. Without Joe, Heathrow (new character) Hattie and Aunt Bam, the movie would have drowned underneath other movies that recently came out. I still recommend people to go see the movie because it is Perry’s last Madea movie and because he always creates and adds good characters that can pull their own weight when it comes to acting.
